Today: Los Angeles Passes Ban On Plastic Bags

Los Angeles has become the biggest city in the U.S. to ban the lowly plastic bag, according to the Los Angeles Times . The City Council voted 13 to 1 to phase out plastic bags at 7,500 markets over the next year, while allowing stores to continue to sell paper bags at $.10 each to customers who don’t bring their own bags. Santa Monica, California has already had the ban in place since last year and now the rest of Los Angeles will as well.
