Could modern life exist without a mass human extermination machine able to wipe out hundreds of millions of us in an hour or so? You know all of those man-in-the-street interviews in Moscow and in lesser cities with bizarre names like Grozny? Our military guys would no longer have the capability of wiping them all out. Worse, they wouldn’t be able to bounce the rubble about seven or eight times after that, which sounds like a neat thing in theory but I wouldn’t actually be around to enjoy such a thing. Neither would our military be able to A-bomb the tar out of, say, the French Riviera. You know, if we don’t stop the French over there, we’ll have to fight them here. Or is all of this starting to sound like that Iraq vet who, according to his defense lawyer, says that pigs are taking over the world and everyone around him was becoming part pig so he had to kill his friends....
