Dayton airport pollution a danger, lawsuit claims

Glacier Lake, Mill Creek Park in Ohio via Shutterstock Three Tipp City families have filed a federal lawsuit claiming that pollution from Dayton International Airport threatens their health and has killed all the life in nearby Mill Creek. The lawsuit, filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Dayton, demands numerous actions, including cleanup of the area and permanent relocation of the families. Dayton City Law Director Anthony Sawyer was unavailable for comment. When the allegations surfaced in April, Dayton officials said tests by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency showed no problems with private water wells in the area around Mill Creek.But an OEPA official at that time confirmed that there had been violations of clean-water mandates and noted the city was building a system to control some of the contaminants at the airport.
