Show your support for Safer Streets in 2012 with hashtag #saferstreetsbill

After the great success of our petition in parliament , Sustrans is now working with supporters, partners and as many of our wide-ranging friends as we can bring together to push through a new law in parliament. On 17th May 2012, the ballot for Private Members Bills was announced, and we’re trying to persuade the top 5 MPs in the draw to take on our Safer Streets Bill 2012. The Safer Streets Bill 2012 will reduce death and injury on our roads by cutting the speed limit in built-up areas from 30mph to 20mph: UK-wide 20mph could prevent up to 1000 deaths and serious injuries in Britain UK-wide 20mph could prevent over 570 needless deaths and serious injuries among children A pedestrian hit at 20mph has nearly 100% chance of survival.
