Many years ago, I read about predator birds nesting on skyscrapers and tower blocks. It is thought that these birds quite simply "read" very tall human edifices as some kind of cliff faces, and as they would normally build their nests high up on craggy cliffs with almost vertical sides, they are quite happy to build their nests on the very high ledges of skyscrapers. An urban setting is in many ways very convenient for them, as there is an almost limitless supply of plump (feral) pigeons, starlings (in the UK) and certain other species of avian food. In Brighton, Sussex, England, there is a nationally famous pair of peregrine falcons who have a nesting box on the flat roof of the 25 story, 102 meters high, apartment block Sussex Heights, where they have lived and reared annual clutches of chicks since 1998.
