Arizona Solar Facility planned for State Trust Land to help fund Arizona public education.

Solar Facility Planned for State Trust Land in Arizona Thursday, April 5th 2012 3:54 PM By GetSolar Staff. Arizona's State Land Department and the Arizona Public Service will work together to build the first-ever solar project on Arizona State Trust lands, adding another project to the state's impressive list of solar energy installations. The 35-megawatt APS Foothills Solar Plant will soon be constructed on 400 acres in Yuma County, and will cost the APS $10 million for a 35-year lease, which is being used to fund Arizona public education. Governor Jan Brewer approved the project, as she has set a goal to facilitate and encourage renewable energy and economic development in Arizona.
