Middle East Update: Protests in Egypt, Syria, Yemen - Care2.com (blog)

It has already been just about three months since January 25th, when Egyptians calling for the ouster of then-President Hosni Mubarak assembled in Tahrir Square in Cairo. Those protests have inspired similar anti-government demonstrations and calls for democratic reforms throughout North Africa and the Middle East and have been thought to be the reason for the recent crackdown against human rights activists and others including Ai Wei Wei who has been detained now for some days by the police in China. A 'protest phenomenon' has spread throughout Egypt says the New York Times , with insurance employees, factory workers, and students at Cairo University staging protests to call on the authorities to meet their demands.
