India: The Next Big Solar Market

Your thoughts and comments are inline with our thoughts.The next couple of months will be important and interesting to watch as about 300MW of Solar PV will be allotted under the stage 2 of the first phase of the national solar mission. Whether existing developers will be allowed to bid, whether project size cap of 5MW will continue, whether domestic content requirements will continue are all interesting points to ponder. The policy makes are unclear yet on how to handle the bid process (FiT/reverse bidding on FiT). We truly believe that the next year or two is when we will be learning a lot based on the developments in the ground when the projects in the first phase stage 1 and stage 2 are being implemented and a lot of discussion and debate is needed as we move to the second phase of the solar mission.
