Sub Saharan Africa's Burgeoning Environmental Movement | Care2 Causes

Did you know that many date the beginning of the environmental movement in the United States to 42 years ago, when 20 million Americans demonstrated throughout the country to call for a healthy, sustainable environment? Those demonstrations, which were held on the first Earth Day, focused on mainstream America’s lack of concern about air and water pollution. They eventually led to the creation of the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency and passage of the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species Acts. The environmental movement has long since gone global, including in Sub Saharan Africa.
