Ford's Cautious Electric Car Strategy May Prove Best Approach

Under CEO Alan Mulally, Ford mostly has been a corporate hare. Over the last few years, it has leapt into the industry lead in hybridization among the Detroit Three, in automotive connectivity via Sync, in social-media marketing, and in other arenas. For the most part, that approach has worked. But when it comes to all-electric vehicles, Ford is a decided tortoise. And at this point in what has proven a devilish race for some participants so far, Ford’s steady-as-she-goes strategy could prove to be a winner just as an aggressive approach has worked elsewhere.
