Trashed tents could certainly turn to gold for students in Kafou Chada. If Charlot sells 100 bags, she'll return to Haiti with nearly $4,000 (or more than 156,000 Haitian gourdes) to fund a new school in Kafou Chada. The artist plans to go back to Haiti within the next two months to bring funds for the school and spend time working with local church and volunteer faculty to improve education. She and other volunteers will teach students basic academics, such as reading, writing and arithmetic. Charlot will work separately with children ages 13 and older to teach them how to work with their hands and construct crafts to bring in income for their families. "If I have to pack up my stuff and move back [to Haiti] to help those kids, I am willing to do that," Charlot says. "I am willing to give [all of my belongings] away just to go over there and help them...until I see that t...
