Tree Deaths Linked To Climate Change In Alaska

The well-known landscapes of many centuries are steadily changing at the hands of climate change. Not everywhere is experiencing such changes, but regions in the Arctic are at a rapid pace. Dwindling sea ice, rising seas, melting glaciers and other factors are joined by tree deaths in the Arctic north. Studies based on yellow cedar trees in Alaska by the United States Forest Service have determined that the trees are dying due to the impact of climate change. A collaborative effort by a number of experts on the trees was recently published in the journal Bioscience. The cause of a large number of yellow cedar deaths perplexed experts for many years before determining the cause to be the warming climate.
