The Season 5 Project Runway winner, who debuted her Fall/Winter 2012 collection at New York Fashion Week on Sunday, has been up all night dyeing her silk gowns the prefect shade of cobalt. "I do everything myself," she tells Ecouterre, holding up her stained fingers by way of evidence. Marshall has, by this juncture, surrendered herself almost completely to her burgeoning reputation as a formalwear designer. Apart from the odd fitting for Paula Abdul and select pieces on Etsy , gowns of the matrimonial variety form the bulk of her transactions today. It doesn't take a seer to picture the Brooklynite giving the big guns of the wedding industry—Wang, Llhuillier, de la Renta—a run for their money. Long-hemmed or short, Marshall's buttercream confections billow like sculpted fondant.
