Some toilet paper production destroys Indonesian rainforests, endangering tigers and elephants

Photo by Daniel Beltra / Greenpeace Expanding pulp and paper production An affiliate of APP's parent, the Sinar Mas Group (SMG), a large diversified conglomerate, recently filed a plan to enter into a 'reverse take over' agreement with United Fiber System Ltd (UFS), a plantation company listed on Singapore's stock exchange. The deal would enable SMG to more easily raise money from investors, while granting it control over large plantation concessions in Borneo, where UFS has attempted to build a pulp mill. SMG also has plantations in Sumatra, which supply APP. An APP affiliate, which will supply APP, is now building a large pulp mill in South Sumatra.
