Report: Clean technology holds key to rapid African development

Renewable energy and other clean technologies are set to play a key role in accelerating development in sub-Saharan Africa and other developing regions, creating a multi-billion dollar economic opportunity in the process. That is the conclusion of a major new report from the Green Alliance think-tank, supported by Christian Aid, Greenpeace, the RSPB and WWF, which argues that renewable energy projects commonly represent the most cost-effective means of bringing energy to the millions of people without access to reliable power grids.
