In 2005, the Harvard Business Review published a study by Robert Kaplan and David Norton about the disconnect between strategic intent and execution. The authors revealed some surprising facts: Sixty percent of organizations do not link strategic priorities to budget, and 95 percent of employees in many organizations do not understand their own company's strategy. What does this have to do with sustainability and organizational structure? Quite a lot, actually.
