Cameron offers £45m funding boost for climate-tackling "internet of things"

David Cameron has announced fresh funding to support the development of the so-called "internet of things", the array of internet-connected and smart grid technologies that promise to enhance efficiency, slash greenhouse gas emissions, and cut operating costs for buildings, vehicles, and entire cities. Speaking at the launch of the CeBIT technology fair in Hannover, Germany, Cameron said the UK was committed to working with Germany to boost both countries' fast-expanding IT industries, arguing that the emergence of innovative new tech companies is critical to Europe's long-term competitiveness.
