UAE’s Dubai Launches 1-Gigawatt Solar Power Project

All of Arabian Gulf Coast Dubai’s energy production comes from oil and natural gas. Dewa’s total installed capacity amounts to 7,361 megawatts (MW). Peak demand falls well below 6,000 MW. The best known of seven Arabian emirates that form the United Arab Emirates http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Arab_Emirates, the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 calls for renewable energy to supply a very modest 1% of the state’s energy by 2020 and 5% by 2030. Currently in Dubai, 4.5-MW of electrical power is produced via solar energy.
