Coexistence Rears Its Ugly Head (Again)
OCA Commentary: Philip Bowles accuses organic and Non-GMO movements of "quackery" and "medieval nostrums" while claiming that genetically engineered seeds are needed to feed millions and implying that "coexistence" ought to be foisted on organic farmers whether they want it or not. Bowles' tirade against organic farmers' "ancient" ideas neglects to address the fact that GM crops have not been shown to be superior yield producers . Further more, The American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) recently stated that "Several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with GM food," including infertility, immune problems, accelerated aging, faulty insulin regulation, and changes in major organs and the gastrointestinal system, debunking Bowles claim that no one has gotten so much as a "bellyache" from eating GM foods.
