Noisy flow meter: I installed a open loop heat pump last fall that is using water from my domestic well pump set at
I installed a open loop heat pump last fall that is using water from my domestic well pump set at 60-40 psi. Everything works great except I get a lot of hissing noise coming from the flow meter when the water pressure gets to 50psi or above. I called the manufacturer and they told me I can throttle the shutoff valve that is ahead of the flow meter to reduce the noise as long as I do not reduce my flow rate below the recommended 6gpm for my heat pump. I did this and it worked. I still get some noise only when the pressure gets to 58psi or so which is acceptable. My question is: can't I just install a pressure reducing valve in the water inlet?
