'Britain's first solar powered town?' up for COP17 film award! #cutdontkill #FITs

This international recognition of community solar generation comes just as the UK government proposes to dramatically and controversially cut the Feed-in tariff support needed to kick-start such initiatives. ‘Britain’s First Solar Powered Town? ’, produced by Solarcentury and Third Channel , is one of ten shortlisted films for the international Institute for Environment and Development’s 4th annual Development and Climate Days (D&C) Film Competition. The films will be screened at COP17 in Durban and the winning film announced at the D&C conference on Sunday 4th December. The D&C days will focus on “evidenced-based adaptation planning.” Solarcentury’s film follows the Town of Wadebridge, in Cornwall as they attempt set the bar in climate change and energy resilience by generating at least a third of their electricity from solar and wind power by 2015.
