How the Big Six could do quite nicely out of the government's bill changes via @energydeskworld

If you’ve been reading the press over the past few weeks you’d be mistaken for thinking that the energy firms are in for a hammering come the Government’s autumn statement on Thursday. That may yet happen (we’ll be keeping an eye on their shares), but there are a few reasons why the changes planned may work out very nicely for the UK’s energy industry. 1. Cuts to efficiency schemes mean selling more gas The government is expected to roll back the deadline by which energy firms have to hit home insulation targets from March 2015. Because the scheme was expected to be repeated - rather than abandoned - at that point extending the deadline for the current programme amounts to an effective reduction in the number of homes which will receive subsidised insulation measures.
