People you are going off half witted here. Mayor Bloomberg is correct. Those horses would be put down, not go to grassy pastures. What you need to be fighting here is the slaughtering of equines in other countries near out US borders, where unwanted and wild horses are being shipped, for the European taste in dining. Carriage horses have been around for over a century but, if is needed, then monthly exams of these horses should be mandatory by qualified NY equine vets to assure each horse's good health. Regimented practice around loud noises as is done with parade animals should also be mandatory. Same goes for trying to put a ban on cops riding horseback. In such places, like Central Park, it can be a matter of life & death to find a missing person, like a child on horseback.
