Ford reveals electric car charging station

Ford has announced the new Ford Electric Vehicle Home Charging Station has achieved UL certification after forming a partnership with Leviton . The level two electric vehicle charging device meets the certification UL 2231, UL 2251 and UL 2594 – it also meets industry standards and recommended practices such as SAE J1772 and NEC 625. The home charging station will provide up to 32amps at 240volts – it is able to fully charge the Ford Focus Electric’s battery in just over three hours. That’s more than four times faster than a portable charger. It is also made up from nearly 60 per cent recycled materials and has a low-energy standby power design. Among its features is a ground monitor circuit and built-in communication which ensures a proper connection before charging can take place.
