Green Blog: U.S. Weighs the Plight of the Eel: Habitat loss

The United States Fish and Wildlife Service has announced that it will begin a review process to determine whether the American eel qualifies for federal protection as an endangered species. The Council for Endangered Species Act Reliability a nonprofit environmental advocacy group, had requested the review based on its own findings that a drastic decline in the number of eels in some areas had put the overall eel population in danger of extinction.
