Reading @businessgreen SSE set to abandon nuclear in favour of renewables #environmentnetwork

Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) has confirmed it is actively considering dropping its interest in building new nuclear power plants in the UK in order to increase its focus on renewable energy. In a move that is likely to be hailed as a major breakthrough by anti-nuclear and pro-renewables campaigners, the energy giant revealed it is in talks to leave the NuGen consortium that could result in it selling its 25 per cent stake to current partners Iberdrola and GDF Suez.
