New non-profit firm promises low cost Green Deal loans

Energy suppliers, construction firms and financial institutions are setting up a national not-for-profit company that could offer low-cost loans to anyone wanting to improve their homes and offices using the government's Green Deal energy efficiency loan scheme. BusinessGreen has learned that accountancy firm PwC is advising a group of companies which is establishing a not-for-profit designed to minimise the costs of Green Deal by aggregating and refinancing loans provided to households and businesses deploying energy efficiency upgrades. The government is planning to launch the Green Deal in October 2012, arguing that the scheme will allow households and businesses to deploy energy efficiency measures such as loft and cavity wall insulation at no upfront cost.
