What Will It Take to Stop Keystone XL?

Have you heard about the proposed Keystone XL pipeline, or in other words, 2,000 miles of sheer environmental devastation? This pipeline would transport filthy tar sands from the Boreal forest in Canada all the way down to oil refineries in Texas, destroying natural habitats and threatening clean water sources along the way. Current regulations do not prevent leaks and spills along the pipeline which could be detrimental to rivers and communities that border all 2,000 miles of it. Fellow co-workers, David Doniger and Liz Barratt-Brown, were recently quoted in a New York Times op-ed calling the pipeline “a major impediment to reaching the nation’s climate protection goals.” This pipeline will not solve the over-arching issue that is the need to find a way to get off of the dirtiest, most un-sustainable fuel on the planet.
