IEA: Clean energy to overtake gas by 2016

Clean energy will overtake gas in the global electricity mix by 2016, making it the world's second largest power source behind coal, the International Energy Agency (IEA) has predicted. Renewables growth continues to "beat expectations" and by 2018 it will make up a quarter of the global power mix, the Paris-based organisation predicts in its second annual Medium-Term Renewable Energy Market Report (MTRMR).
