Osborne swings axe at DECC and Defra

Chancellor George Osborne has today confirmed the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) and Defra will face steep spending cuts for 2015/16 as part of the latest spending review. Osborne told the House of Commons that DECC's resource budget will be cut eight per cent, while Defra will face further cuts of 10 per cent. In addition, the Department for Communities and Local Government will see its resource spending for 2015/16 reduced by 10 per cent, while the Department for Transport faces a nine per cent cut.
