Recycling is now mandatory for businesses in #Minneapolis

Photo: Creative Commons, by Jeremy Noble San Francisco made headlines when it mandated recycling and composting for residents and businesses back in 2009, and now Minneapolis, Minn., is following suit. Recycling is already mandatory for residents of the larger of the Twin Cities, and a new ordinance took effect Sept. 1, requiring businesses to set up recycling programs. Under the new law, all commercial properties must create a recycling plan and share it with tenants or employees annually. Businesses are required to have recycling collection at least twice a month. Noncompliant businesses will receive a written warning that they have 10 days to comply with the new ordinance, and further violations of the law will lead to fines.
