Rockaways flood video update @dotearth Does NYC Need Surge Protection?:

PlaNYC press conference on the waterfront earlier this year, I noted Mayor Bloomberg’s acceptance of the scientific consensus on the reality of climate change, as evidenced by the City’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions . I then asked how he might weave together that logical strand with a contradictory one, that we were building luxury towers in waterfront flood zones. Was this indicative of an unannounced plan to build a storm surge barrier at the Narrows or Gateway? He brushed the question off rather huffily, mocking the whole storm surge barrier aspect.
