26/08/2011 UK-GBC welcomes latest research on the falling cost of building green homes Added By: [email protected] On 2011-08-26 12:48:37 Type: UK-GBC news Category: Zero Carbon Homes, zero carbon UK-GBC has welcomed findings from a new report produced by Andrew Stunell, Communities Minister, showing that the cost of building new homes to standards set in the Code for Sustainable Homes has fallen year-on-year for the past three years. Since the introduction of the Code for Sustainable Homes in 2007, yearly research has been carried out with developers to assess how much the different Code standards and components cost, and identify developer trends in securing Code credits. The research shows that for homes built to Code level 3 standards, average extra costs have decreased by almost three quarters in the last three years – falling from £4,458 in 2008 to £1,128 in 20...
