Vattenfall, Technip and AREG seek consent for offshore wind demo site

Plans to turn Aberdeen into an offshore wind technology hub have taken a major step forward, after a joint venture led by Swedish utility Vattenfall filed for consent to build an 11-turbine demonstration site. The joint venture, which also includes French engineering firm Technip and the Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group (AREG), confirmed late last week that they have applied to Marine Scotland for permission to build the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC) off Aberdeen Bay in Scotland.
