It would have taken ten rolls of film to capture a single shot of every lifeless pilot whale laid out on the docks of Klaksvik. As I walked past row after row of dead cetaceans, snapping photo after photo, I was dwarfed more by the magnitude of the killing than the towering green mountains that envelope the second largest town in the Faeroe Islands. It was almost as if the mountains themselves, which surround the fishing port on all sides, sought to hide the slaughter from the rest of the world.
