L'Oréal Plans Second N.J. Solar Array · Environmental Management

L’Oréal USA has announced that its Franklin, N.J. manufacturing facility is partnering with GeoPeak Energy in a power purchase agreement to install a 1 MW photovoltaic solar system at the plant. Once operational, the first phase of the roof-mounted photovoltaic solar energy system is projected to provide 12 percent of the plant’s (pictured) annual electrical power requirements. In addition to the solar installation, the plant has contracted with GeoPeak Energy to procure additional carbon credits, thereby allowing the facility to reduce carbon dioxide by 1,200 metric tons per year. The Franklin manufacturing site expansion was awarded LEED Gold certification in December 2010.
