Mississippi cyclist hit twice by driver: Where is the accountability?: via @grist

Sarah, my name is Melody Moody and I serve as the Executive Director of Bike Walk Mississippi. As a follower of your stories, of Grist and of course, as a bike/ped advocate, I greatly appreciate your coverage of this story. We in Mississippi are very disappointed that DA Allgood was unable (or unwilling) to pursue felony charges. (He also won in the primary election last night). Bike Walk Mississippi is working hard to begin the process to get "Vulnerable Users" legislation introduced; we are also working with others to strengthen the Distracted Driving laws in Mississippi. Admittedly, we have a long ways to go but as far as this goes, Bike Walk Mississippi desires to work with citizens across our state to 1)foster a mutual respect between motorists & cyclists on the roads 2)to provide both protection for vulnerable users & stronger punishments for accidents such as these ...
