Cars and Fuel: What Constructive Compromise Looks Like - - #opinion

Environmentalists, politicians, corporate and union lobbyists and the auto industry have been embroiled for months in hashing out the details for cutting the fuel use and emissions of American cars and light trucks through 2025, and the result was on display in Washington today . The new fuel economy standard will increase to an average of 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025 (for fleets of cars and light trucks together), from the current 27.3 miles per gallon.
