‘Loch Ness Monster’ Sighting in Alaska

Footage shot in 2009 by Alaska fisherman will be shown publicly on a new Discovery Channel special this coming Tuesday in the evening. It supposedly shows a large reptile about twenty feet long moving in the water. If it is actually an animal in the video it might just be a frilled shark. Frilled sharks resemble what people believe is a ‘sea serpent,’ leading some people to posit that the individuals who spot them are unaware of their existence, and leap to the conclusion they are seeing a sea serpent or monster. “Garman, and numerous authors since, have advanced the frilled shark as an explanation for sea serpent sightings.” Frilled sharks usually stay near the bottom of the ocean, and might not ever have been sighted in Alaskan waters, but they have been documented as far north as Norway.
