Jet biofuel is flying at the moment - lots of challenges still to be faced but are we on the brink of a breakthrough

Passengers on Lufthansa flight LH013 from Hamburg to Frankfurt made history this morning, embarking on the German carrier's first biofuel-powered service. The Airbus A321 that took off today was the first in the company's €6.6m trial to replace jet fuel with biosynthetic kerosene made by Finnish company Neste Oil using jatropha, camelina plants and animal fats.
