Contact Your Senator. Contacting your Member of Congress. Ask them to support climate legislation. Check lights. Identify frequently used light fixtures that use incandescent bulbs; order fluorescent replacements bulbs Check the temperature setting on your water-heater. Reduce the setting to 120°F (typically the “warm” setting; or halfway between the low and medium settings), if it is not already set to that temperature. Check the settings on your appliances. Where the option is available – and is not already selected -- select the energy-saving setting on your refrigerator, dishwasher, washing machine and other major appliances. Purchase only energy efficient products. Use a service like TopTen to pick from the most energy-efficient consumer products on the market in a wide range of categories from refrigerators to laptops.
