Sierra Club Slams Decision to Remove Another Animal from Endangered Species List

Washington, DC-- Today, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced it intends to remove endangered species protection for the Canada lynx-- an animal that makes its home in several American states. The controversial move concluded that the lynx and its habitat are not at risk of the effects of climate change. In December 2016, however, the agency found the Canada lynx was at risk of extinction through the end of this century. In response, Sierra Club Attorney Eric Huber released the following statement: “ This is a sad day for those who cherish this beautiful wild creature, and those who believe the Fish and Wildlife Service's decisions should be based on science not politics. Nothing has changed since the agency’s original report that justifies taking lynx off the endangered species list.
