In all these, I encounter the continuation and elaboration of the Gunflint’s ancient network of living thought. How this thought moves into the future will depend on the relationship among needle, root, microbe, fungus and human. In the boreal, there is reason to hope that we’ll guide the human part of this relationship with forethought.
