Help take a stand

Around 20,000 African elephants are killed by poachers each year for their ivory tusks. We must act now to protect these incredible animals. However, Michael Gove, the new Environment Secretary, recently said that it is his “responsibility to tackle the trade in illegal ivory”. The problem is some ivory antiques from the UK are legally shipped to Asia, where demand is driving the poaching crisis. A legal ivory trade can also provide a cover for criminals to launder illegal ivory. Now is the time for the UK government to take action to tackle the illegal ivory trade.
