The Big Five Barclays’ Bob Diamond is in the news a lot of late. President of Barclays Capital, he has a salary of £250,000 but his bonuses are reported to reach up to £20m.6 In 2010 five of the company’s highest paid executive officers each received between £1million and £3.5 million in remuneration with the possibility of this rising to £11 million.5 Last year Barclays was forced to admit it paid just £113m in corporation tax in 2009, despite profits of £11.6bn.
