Did Jamie Oliver Just Score A Victory Over Crap Food In LA Schools?

While Jamie Oliver’s cameras never did make it inside the cafeteria of a Los Angeles school, it appears that his persistence to influence some type of change has paid off. The celebrity chef’s “Food Revolution” reality series focused on the nation’s second largest school district during Season Two – but was swiftly denied in episode one by officials from going inside. That put a wrinkle in the show’s successful format of helping schools provide better nutrition to their students, but Oliver nonetheless continued throughout LA to spread the word. And after yesterday, it appears that LAUSD board members were listening. The group voted 5-2 to remove flavored milk, corn dogs, chicken nuggets, and other breaded items from the menus over over 1,000 sites and replace them with more vegetarian offerings and fewer “fast food” options.
