Could an inexpensive piece of woven cloth replace your pricy anti-burglar system?

No need for a traditional burglar system anymore if you can drape your home in a new smart fabric that can detect intruders . Developed by a team of researchers in Berlin, the textile is made up of woven conductive threads that can sound the alarm when penetrated and tell you exactly where the threat is coming from. It probably wouldn’t actually be practical to drape your house in this stuff, but the smart fabric would be excellent to cover bank vaults, precious art collections, or semi-trucks for additional security. The researchers claim their anti-theft textile is considerably cheaper than a regular burglar system and they expect to see the fabric incorporated into projects during construction.
