Chilean Eco-Fashion Designers at the New York International Gift Fair 2012 @Ecouterre

Also drawing on the Chilean landscape, Angelica del Sante is a designer and fiber artist who has studied the development of the loom and new techniques over the last five years. She creates one-of-a-kind pieces that serve as scarves, wraps, shawls, cowls and even head wraps. Her style is influenced by her studies in Spain, a stay with the local aboriginal group, the Mapuche , in Southern Chile and Andean textile techniques. Del Sante uses wool, cotton, silk and occasionally leather in her woven pieces, all of which transmit a cultural story. The wool is untreated and when dyed, is tinted with natural products such as vegetables, fruit and clay making her designs the perfect reflection of the natural environment.
