Chilean Eco-Fashion Designers Invade the New York International Gift Fair

is about more than good design. The company has been recognized by the Core77 Design Awards- Design for Social Impact, the NYIGF’s 2011 Eco-Choice Award and IDEA Resposibility Award for its efforts to create a disruptive socially inclusive production ecosystem. The small Chilean company works with local women in Patagonia to produce their well-designed yet simple shoe guided by craftsmanship. The shoes feature upcycled salmon skin , a bi-product of the Chilean fishing industry, and raw natural wool, both renewable materials readily available in the surrounding environment. Each Chilote Shoe comes with a unique QR code where consumers can learn more about the geographical and production details as well as the face of the craftswoman behind each shoe.
