The world's largest nuclear fusion reactor is about to switch on

A fusion reactor isn’t going to explode like a fission reaction. The only reason we used plutonium and uranium was because they could be weaponized. But these are extremely unstable reactions. If containment is lost in a fusion reactor, the nuclear reaction stops. It produces its maximum level of radiation when functioning normally, and any radio active isotopes left over would be light short lived particles like neutrons or barely radioactive isotopes like deuterium, which I think is actually used up as fuel in this reaction. No long term ionized waste. I doubt a fusion reactor can explode in the way that a nuclear bomb can.
